What is MAP Pricing?

MAP Pricing is a policy that sets the Minimum Advertised Price (MAP) for Kryptonite Products' branded heavy-duty steering and suspension products. This is also the Minimum Resale Price.

What is the Retail Price (MSRP)?

The Retail Price (MSRP) for our products is the list price, which can be found on our price sheet or at kryptoniteproducts.com.

What is the MAP Price?

The MAP Price for our products is always 5% less than the Retail Price (MSRP), which can be found on our price sheet or at kryptoniteproducts.com/pages/map-policy .

How can the MAP Pricing Policy be violated?

If a Reseller sells a Kryptonite product below the MAP Price, they will violate our Pricing Policy.

What discounts can a Reseller provide?

Resellers can provide free shipping or installation to consumers.

Can a Reseller sell an open box at a discounted price?

Selling any product below the MAP Price, even if that item is an “open box” or returned item, is a violation of the Pricing Policy.

What discounts are not allowed?

Any discount that brings the net-realized price below MAP is prohibited. Examples include:

  • 10% off MSRP promotions
  • Coupons for future purchases
  • Instant or mail-in rebates
  • Free gift cards tied to purchase

Is selling on Amazon or other marketplaces allowed?

Resellers shall be in breach of this Agreement if they offer or sell products on Amazon, eBay, Walmart, or similar marketplaces. Please contact our team with any questions.

Do I need to sign the new Pricing Policy?

No. You sign up to be an authorized Reseller. This is a unilateral policy revision, meaning it is announced and must be accepted, or the Reseller may withdraw or face penalties.

What are the penalties?

If you violate the Pricing Policy, you will no longer be able to purchase Kryptonite Products. For example, selling the Kryptonite Death Grip Series Tie Rods (P/N KRTR10) below the MAP Price of $360.99 would be a violation.

Is this legal?

Yes. U.S. antitrust law permits manufacturers to adopt unilateral minimum resale pricing policies and to deal only with resellers that independently choose to comply.


More Details

1. Violation

While each Reseller is free to establish its own resale prices at or above MAP, Kryptonite Products reserves the right to revoke authorization at its sole discretion if the Policy is violated.

A violation occurs if a Reseller:

  • Offers, sells, or provides products in the US or Canada at a net adjusted price below the current MAP posted by Kryptonite.

Selling below MAP voids the Kryptonite warranty and customers will be referred back to the selling dealer for warranty claims.

First Offense: Warning

Second Offense: Loss of Reseller status for one month

Third Offense: Termination of Reseller

Additionally, the end user of a product sold below MAP will no longer have warranty coverage through Kryptonite Products.

2. Result of Termination

Upon termination, all pending orders may be canceled and no new orders will be accepted unless reinstated in accordance with Section 3.

3. Reinstatement

A terminated Reseller may be reinstated at Kryptonite’s sole discretion upon providing evidence that the violation was due to an unintentional clerical or administrative error.

If terminated twice within a twelve-month period, the Reseller will not be considered for reinstatement for a minimum of six months.

4. Net Adjusted Price

"Net adjusted price" means the lower of:

  • The price at which the product is offered; or
  • The price actually paid after applying all discounts, rebates, promotions, deductions, or incentives.

5. Sales Channels and Marketplaces

Resellers are in breach if they sell products on Amazon, eBay, Walmart, or similar marketplaces.

Additional Policy Terms and Conditions

This policy ensures Kryptonite Products maintains control over pricing and protects the value of its products while maintaining a fair and competitive marketplace.

Kryptonite Products reserves the right to modify, extend, suspend, discontinue, or rescind this Policy at any time without notice and at its sole discretion. We will not entertain discussions regarding acceptance conditions.
